Last night after the concert I stopped by my moms house to pick up the package. It contained an old Pentax K1000 and two lenses, one of which was a 50mm f1.4 SMC lens. The people that know about Pentax will know of the quality of that lens. I got the whole bundle for a little over $100, which is a steal. I have seen that lens sell at $80, and that camera for a pretty penny as well. The second lens is pretty decent, f1.7 SMC, but I am not sure about the lens quality, I haven’t read up on that one. The f1.4 lens is in pretty great condition, one very small white spec on it that I can’t get off. Here is a picture taken with the lens, and taken of the new camera.

Seattle was amazing. There were so many great people and great shops. I spent most of my time in Pike’s Marketplace where I talked to the Street Performers. There was a stand where a girl was selling jewelry and I asked her if there was anything going on I should check out that night. She listed off some events and I asked her if she would like to go to one of them with me… she was taken. It was still a nice response, we both smiled and I walked away.

I got tired of walking around and I decided to sit down next to this girl selling hemp jewelry, I asked if it was alright beforehand. We talked and she just got to Seattle a week prior and during our conversation her boyfriend came up. I figured why not make two new friends and talked to him for a while too. They traveled together from St. Louis down through a bunch of states including Arizona (stayed in Flagstaff for a while) and then went through Oregon (stayed in Portland) and now they are in Seattle. Their names were Mitch and Lilly.

I asked them why they don’t try to set something up next to a street performer to have the music draw the people in to buy their jewelrly, and apparently you need 30 dollars for a permit (I don’t know over what time frame) to be able to set anything up down there. He told me that not many people were buying their jewelry so he turns to pan handling as well. He also mentioned that people don’t believe he asks the money for food, so then he lies to them and asks money for alcohol and drugs. You have to love America, where you get money for destroying yourself, but none for preserving yourself.

There was an amazingly beautiful girl who was a street performer (played the accordion and sang). I saw her on Friday for a very short time, so figured I would stop by again Saturday to try and get pictures of her. I found her getting a cup of coffee at one of the shops and told her I saw her for a bit yesterday but didn’t get a chance to take pictures. I asked if she would be playing today and told me where/when. I showed up a little before she went on and took some pictures of the guy that went on prior to her. When she came up we exchanged smiles and I took pictures. Half of the ones I took of her were gone when I reviewed them later, all of the ones when I switched angles actually. I am disappointed because I had some of the better shots from the other side.

That was my trip in a nutshell. I am going through all of the pictures still, I am going to upload them to my flickr set titled Seattle when I am done. Here are some for now.

The gypsy girl I like

I don’t see these in Arizona often, so figured I would take a picture of this too

I am writing the message offline, while on the airplane to Seattle, WA.

I haven’t updated in a while with anything of substance, and have some time now. As most of you know, I was in a pretty bad car accident back in April, and have been in not the best condition since then. I Had x-rays taken last week, and they noticed that I did have problems. My discs are compressed in my neck and in my lower back (L4). Also the back spams have straightened out the natural curve in my spine.

Thursday I had my MRI done, and the results were sent to my doctor who will review them and let me know if I also have herniated discs.

There also have been some amazing concerts. Last Friday was First Friday and I took a whole slew of pictures, some blurry, but some actually pretty good. The Monday after was another pretty good show, I took some pictures, but they were actually most bad just because of the lighting was too low for me to capture what I wanted and I really dislike using a flash. I will be uploading those sometime soon I think, along with the pictures from Thursday. I am going to start uploading all of the photos I take to azeventlist because I created a script to actually make all of the galleries look the same, and I am going to start linking it to the show. I also planned a little farther for azeventlist. I am going to have it when you click on the event you will go to another page that has message board type of thing, but only one thread in, so more like a shoutbox. I am going to also have the galleries for that event show up along with who is going to the event (I might hold off on facebook integration, at least for the time being). I am going to create a user registration though so credit can be given to who uploads what picture, and the username for the shoutbox styled forum. I am going to clean this site as uncluttered as humanly possible, which should be easy because I am building this all from scratch.

I am listening to Defiance, Ohio and just really wish I could get my hands on more of their stuff. I only have the album A Great Depression. I really want to see them again, and actually not because of the girl that plays the violin. They are going to be playing in Florida for the fest, which is really tempting to go to, but I don’t know if I will have the funds for that.

So much has been going on, mostly good I think. All in all I am happy with Phoenix/Tempe I just miss the people that have left to Chicago, Michigan, and Oregon. Yes I know Chicago is not a state. In October I will see the person that left to Michigan, in November the person from Oregon, and in December the people in Chicago. People keep leaving, and I wonder if it is something all of us will do eventually. I know I would love to live in Minnesota as soon as possible, but I would miss everyone too much. Anyhow, I am going to put my laptop away and snack on a mounds bar while listening to Defiance, Ohio.

I really will update this more and more, and upload pictures to the azeventlist more and more. I just need a faster host for a lot of this, so I might switch over the hosting for mattindustries over to godaddy as well. Right now azeventlist is up there, minus a couple features that I need to find workarounds for (I think it has something to do with the way it handles returns.

There was a show tonight at the bike co-op and the line up was really amazing. Steven from French Quarter played and then Teague? I think is how his name is spelled went on, which are both great local musicians. After them a touring band went on, which I don’t know the name of and then the band Delay from Ohio went on which was fun. The headliner was Andrew Jackson Jihad playing with the first two local musicians and there was a great crowd. I took a couple pictures, but mostly it was too dark to get anything good, and I don’t like using the flash.
